MINIVERSE - Are the Droplets on the web Playing the trumpet for the moon ? - KUNSTDEPOT ALTDORF
Miniverse
Permanent Exhibition at Kunstdepot Altdorf, Switzerland
Located in the heart of the Swiss Alps, Miniverse is an immersive installation capsule that transforms the historic Kunstdepot Altdorf into a hyper-sensorial journey. Housed in the private collection of Christoph Hürlimann and Elisabeth Weber on the second floor of a former 1912 grain warehouse designed by Robert Maillart, Katja Loher weaves video art and architecture into a space she defines as the Architecture of Dreams.
At the core of the exhibition are five giant, floating Videoplanets. Suspended in a semi-dark space surrounded by crystals that reflect stars, each sphere corresponds to one of the five elements of Eastern philosophy—Earth, Wood, Metal, Fire, and Water—accompanied by a dedicated soundscape. Through her signature bird’s-eye perspective, Loher blends choreographed dance, organic shapes, and kaleidoscopic patterns into a living, moving narrative.
Miniverse explores the profound connection between human creativity and the natural world. Combining key works from Loher’s New York period with site-specific sculptures and hand-blown glass elements, the exhibition mirrors the constant cycles of nature. It is a declaration of love for our planet—a beautiful invitation to slow down, listen to the vibrations, and rediscover a sense of wonder.
