The costumes are abstract, geometric body forms inspired by Oskar Schlemmers Bauhaus stage aesthetics.  They present the idea of choreographed geometry, man as dancer, transformed by costume, moving in space.  The reduction of the human body into abstract geometric form (a cylinder for the neck, a circle for head and eyes) is the main influence on the costume designs in this work.

it's the second piece using a chessboard as a very reduced backdrop that's inhabited by human chess pieces. Over seven scenes, the chess pieces act out a dramaturgy that explores the tension between individual and collective desires. Symbols and meaning are largely formed by the choreography of the chess performers, suggestion a lexical experiment a la Busby Berkeley.
