«The Question Is No» is the final video in a triptych of works that delve into the uniquely human area between reality and fiction. Each video speaks about an exploration of a personal reality that lies between the gravity-oriented physical world and the boundless worlds of imagination. While each work can be viewed separately, the three can be shown as a part of a common installation. In the opening of «The Question Is No», the Protagonist appears out of the sky, flying in a soap bubble above an abrasive industrial landscape, and crashes onto the wet, dirty ground. This begins her travels through the gritty environment of our world; the pavement, the streets and the traditional American roadside diner. The diner offers an array of objects and people not commonly associated with our reality; jellyfish, floating beings and food in colourful liquids and solids. This inspires the protagonist on her personal search for understanding in a world which is both alien and familiar. Happiness cannot always be found in the
journey itself, but, sometimes, in the oddest of destinations and with
the strangest of people.
