PSYCHOMETRE_2002

Video Projection

Duration: 5'16''

The video work was developed as a studio production in which we worked mainly with light and darkness and everyday materials (nylon stockings, rubber bands, etc.). We were inspired by the title psychometre and our thoughts about projections and projection surfaces, including those we create about ourselves and people around us yet nevertheless try to resist.

Is it desirable that everything must be predicted, defined, reconstructed, and measured in order to become recognizable?
Can we exist without demanding an explanation for our existence?
What are the consequences of the search to define ourselves?
To what extent are we moved to expand our way of thinking in a closed system?
Are there valid units of measurement in a psycho system?
Could our perception represent the best definition of the human state?

Stage/Choreography
The stage is completely "black". We lie on the ground (one stiff, one twisted) in the projector's reflection on the stage, barely visible. We move very slowly, convulsing for 6 minutes. The video concludes with a long fade out. We rise and freeze in our position, then the stages returns to black.
